A Local Love Story,
Born Behind the Counter

 By Megan – Partner, Mum, and Proud Co-owner

You could say it started with a sausage… but really, it started with hope.

Jackson began his journey at The Ningi Butcher as a young apprentice, learning the ropes under the original owners, true legends of our local community. He finished his apprenticship at Ningi Butcher & soon moved over to the Bellmere store where he managed the shop for nearly ten years, putting in the hard yards and building something special.

I was working across town at the Bellmere location when we first met. Back then, we were just good mates or so I thought. Jackson says he had a soft spot for me from day one. It took me a little longer to catch on! Let’s just say, Jackson’s delivery runs to the Bellmere store became a lot more frequent.

We spent years working side by side, sharing shifts, many laughs, and a few dinners... and somewhere in the middle of all that, something more grew. Fast forward a decade: we’re a couple, have two beautiful kids, our daughter Ruby known to most as “The Big Boss” and our cheeky little man, Leonardo, and we now own the very shop where it all began.

When we took over The Bellmere Butcher, we didn’t just want to run a business, we wanted to create a place that felt like home. A shop where everyone, especially families felt welcomed, looked after and part of something real.

From day one, our closest family and friends stood firmly behind us. At 25, with a newborn, buying an established business was a bold move, one we couldn’t make alone. Despite our doubts, Jackson and I chose to back ourselves and take the leap. Our families gave us the kind of support that never wavered. We had some experience but when life momentarily paused, we recognized the importance of leaning on support not just to maintain the business, but to help it grow and thrive.

We’ve always wanted our shop to feel like more than just a place to pick up meat, it should feel warm, welcoming, and part of the community. Whether you're popping in after work, wrangling the kids, or planning for a weekend BBQ, we’re here to make your visit easy and enjoyable. Our team is friendly, down-to-earth, and always happy to help whether it’s answering questions, carrying a box to the car, or just sharing a laugh at the counter. We’re proud to know many of our customers by name, and we love being part of your everyday life. At the end of the day, we’re not just a butcher shop we’re a family, serving families. And we’re so grateful to be part of yours.

We also wouldn’t be where we are today without our epic team;
